Baku. Suleyman Farzaliyev – APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov’s visit to Iran on December 14 is significant for two issues. Recently development and intensification is observed in the relations of the two countries in the certain fields and from this point of view the visit will promote extension of relations and create opportunity for deep analysis of some issues, Iranian political analyst and expert Hasan Behishtpur told APA. “It includes oil and gas issues between the two countries, as well as role of Iran and Azerbaijan in the region and joint comprehensive cooperation”.

The expert said both countries signed different agreements during four years of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government, but they were not fulfilled yet. “The second significance of the visit is that it will promote the fulfillment of coordinated, but not implemented projects. Iran knows that if visa regime is lifted, the people of two countries will know each other better and it will create opportunity for the development of bilateral relations. It will prevent negative campaign against Azerbaijan conducted by some forces in Iran and in Azerbaijan against Iran. Iran is interested in the lifting of visa regime because it will promote the development of tourism between the two countries”.

Behishtpur said travels between the two countries would be easy if Azerbaijan also lifted visa regime. “Some people try to speculate with visa issues and it creates problems for the ordinary travelers. There is no visa regime in many developed countries of the world. It is domestic issue of Azerbaijani government, but we hope that Azerbaijan will also take some positive steps in the visa issue”.
