OSCE Secretary General holds press conference on results of his visit to Azerbaijan

The guest said he held meetings at the ministries of justice, internal affairs, economic development, at the parliament and met with the President. â€œBoth sides are satisfied with the level of relationsâ€.

Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said Azerbaijan-OSCE relations were developed in three main directions: military-political, economic and human rights issues. He mentioned the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and reminded the joint statement by the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries. The Secretary General said this statement was an invitation to the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents to develop negotiations and to reach a compromise. â€œWe discussed this issue with the Azerbaijani president. I saw his intention to develop the negotiations over the settlement of the conflictâ€.

Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said during his meeting with the President he mentioned the arrest of young bloggers Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade. â€œOSCE Special representative for freedom of mass media and ODIHR president sent letters to Azerbaijan regarding this issue. I also quoted these letters. Freedom of mass media is one of the commitments of the member countries undertaken before the OSCE and I hope that Azerbaijani leadership will take these letters into considerationâ€.
