Newcastle United have confirmed the arrival of Yankuba Minteh from Danish side Odense Boldklub, APA reports.
The 18-year-old forward will spend the 2023-24 season on loan at Dutch side Feyenoord.
Newcastle United sporting director, Dan Ashworth, said: “We are very pleased to be bringing a player with Yankuba’s high potential to Newcastle United".
"As well as supporting the first team with players for the here and now, we have a clear philosophy to invest in emerging talent and we want to provide a player pathway that will help to build and sustain long-term success".
Minteh made his debut for Odense last September, scoring just five minutes after coming on as a substitute. In 21 appearances this season, he scored six goals and managed seven assists.
The 2022-23 campaign was his first season in European football, having arrived in Denmark from Gambian club Steve Biko FC in the summer, a club named after the murdered civil rights activist.
His manager at Odense is Andreas Alm, who also gave current Newcastle striker Alexander Isak his debut at AIK in 2016.
A key part of Newcastle’s transfer strategy under sporting director Ashworth is to sign emerging talent from around the world.
