Geopolitical developments and security risks in the region are causing capital to shift toward safer investment markets. In this regard, Azerbaijan could become one of the attractive destinations for foreign investors, Gulizar Yavash, Chief Commercial Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, said at the Turkic states fintech forum held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, significant changes are being observed in global capital flows, with funds moving out of regions where security risks are increasing.
"There are serious tensions in the region surrounding Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Investors in these areas no longer feel safe and are redirecting their funds elsewhere. This capital will seek new markets for investment," Gulizar Yavash said.
She noted that Azerbaijan could benefit from this process in terms of its economic diversification policies and investment opportunities.
According to the Turkish official, Azerbaijan has investment potential in agriculture, renewable energy, and other sectors.
"Azerbaijan is diversifying almost all sectors to ensure its economic security. Some foreign investors will turn to this market because the number of safe places to invest capital is decreasing," she emphasized.
Gulizar Yavash added that an increase in foreign investment would also boost demand for financial technologies and payment systems. Therefore, fintech companies should identify the needs of new investors in advance and develop appropriate services.
