Giving detailed information about the projects, in which Azerbaijan is the main partner, Abdullayev said that the South Gas Corridor strategy had been developed for EU countries. He noted that Azerbaijan conducts estimations in connection with potential gas pipe projects related to gas export and final decision in this regard will be made in 2013.
Touching upon significance of TANAP project in the South Gas Corridor, Abdullayev expressed that in initial stage this project is expected to transport 16 bcm gas: ‘6 bcm of it will be sold to Turkey. In future, as a result of the joining of other energy reserves in the Caspian region to this project, the capacity of the pipeline is forecasted to hit 30 bcm’.
‘Azerbaijan approaches this project very seriously. Draft law on TANAP has already been ratified in the Parliament and it had been signed by the President’, added SOCAR President.
At the same time, Abdullayev noted that together with TANAP, the amount of Azeri investment in Turkey would reach $17 bn.
