Azerbaijan to double economy within next 10 years

Baku. Ali Ahmedov – APA–Economics. Azerbaijan’s GDP is planned to double to AZN 100 bln within the next 10 years, due to saving of GDP annual growth rate at 5.5-6% during the same period, said Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan Minister of Communication and Information Technologies, at the international conference : “Azerbaijan-2020: Vision into the future”.

According to him, one of the priority fields is to develop ICT for achieving the purpose defined within the framework the conception. The minister informed that ICT growth limit is planned to rise 4-4,5 times in the next 10 years that this sphere can contribute to the general development. “For instance, , income should reach $8-9 bln in 2020, while it was roughly $1,7 bln in ICT sector in 2011”, A.Abbasov emphasized.
