Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Taxes has met with head of EU delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Roland Kobia. Press service of the Ministry told APA-Economics that the meeting focused on cooperation issues and its perspectives between the EU and Azerbaijan, modern state of national tax system and development directions.
Mammadov said that Azerbaijan had close partnership and cooperation relations with the EU, and that the country closely partakes in energy security of Europe. Expressing that realization of Azerbaijan-EU Plan of Activity within the framework of European neighborhood policy creates new possibilities in cooperation sphere, the minister noted that national legislation basis improves constantly and its management principles and practice are developed by taking the European leading practice into account.
Touching upon the reforms in tax system, the minister noted that tax administration is constantly improved on the basis of modern information technologies; services rendered to taxpayers are realized at the most advanced technological level; state registration of entrepreneurship activities are carried out in e-form.
In turn, Kobia expressed satisfaction of effective and close cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU. He said that al the abovementioned correspond the EU’s plans: ‘Wide application of information technologies in tax service is a positive practice. Cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan is mainly connected with diversification of economy, liberalization of economy and development of struggle against corruption’.
He said that the EU appreciates political will of Azerbaijani President in this sphere: ‘EU highly assesses the memorandum signed between the state bodies realizing this direction and International Anticorruption Academy of the Taxes Ministry’, added Kobia.
Ambassador of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan, Arjen Uijterlinde, Austrian ambassador to Azerbaijan Sylvia Meyer Kaibic, commercial advisor at the French embassy Daniel Patat exchanged views on the raised issues.
