Azerbaijan-based banks see 27% growth in assets

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. In 2012, Azerbaijan-based commercial banks’ assets stood at AZN 17,643.5 mln, up AZN 3,696.7 mln or 26.5% from year earlier.

According to Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the assets increased by AZN 822.3 mln or 4.9% in December, 2012.

Most of assets were loans given to clients. So, such loans made AZN 10,681.3 mln. Besides, AZN 1,600.9 mln was investments, AZN 1,444.1 mln – correspondent accounts, AZN 696.0 mln – loans and deposits for financial sector, AZN 700.4 mln – cash funds and AZN 2,520.6 mln – other assets.

AZN 7,710.9 mln of liabilities were deposits, AZN 5,172.1 mln – loans and deposits from financial sector, AZN 2,205.1 mln – other liabilities and AZN 2,555.3 mln – capital.
