Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-Economics. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts a 12% economic growth in Azerbaijan next year, said said Valeria Fichera, head of an IMF mission visiting Baku.
According to her, despite the world financial crisis, Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector growth rate will be about 6% in 2009.
“Of course, this rate is less than this year. However, given the fact that the growth rate is likely to be zero in other countries, Azerbaijan’s figure is quite satisfactory,†she added.
She also noted that the inflation rate will significantly go down in Azerbaijan in 2009.
Thus, according to IMF projections, inflation in the country could fall to 9% in 2009.
