“We will primarily discuss our independence in the energy sector in Yerevan. Because we import a lot of energy. We must increase the use of our own resources in Europe – nuclear energy and renewable energy,” President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement to journalists ahead of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, APA reports.
She drew attention to Europe’s dependence on other countries in the military sphere and noted that this issue is on the agenda of the summit.
Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the formation of “reliable supply chains” will be discussed at the summit and also spoke about the importance of the Middle Corridor for Europe.
She noted that the Middle Corridor holds significant importance for Europe, ensures connectivity with the South Caucasus and Central Asia, and that Armenia plays an important role in this area.
