Kyiv is seeking at least $ 2 billion a month in emergency economic aid from the US administration, said Serhiy Marchenko, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, APA reports citing Washington Post.
He says that without funds, Ukraine's humanitarian crisis could worsen.
"We want to win this war and raise the necessary funds to fill this gap immediately," he said.
According to him, economic aid is needed to be able to pay state pensions, and salaries to health and education workers.
According to The Washington Post, Marchenko told US officials during a visit to Washington that Kyiv needed at least $ 5 billion a month in international aid to cover its emergency expenses in April, May and June.
In addition, additional appeals are expected regarding the country's long-term needs for future reconstruction.
Late last week, US President Joe Biden announced that Washington would provide an additional $ 500 million in economic assistance to Kyiv. The American leader clarified that these funds are given to Kiev to stabilize the economy, pay salaries and provide the population with the necessary services.
