The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) stated on Friday that it received a notice from a verified source that an unknown projectile struck a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, APA reports.
"The Master of a tanker has reported being struck by an unknown projectile whilst conducting an outbound transit, resulting in a small fire and blackout onboard," the agency added.
The UKMTO said in the statement that no casualties or environmental damage were reported. Furthermore, the agency urged other vessels to exercise caution and inform the UKMTO of any suspicious activity.
