The use of the Strait of Hormuz by Gulf countries and trade through it must remain free, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said at the opening ceremony of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.

“How can we assess the helplessness of the international system and our inability to act? We welcome the 15-day ceasefire proposed with Pakistan’s mediation in the meaningless war that began against Iran due to Israel’s provocation. No matter how deep the issues are, confrontation and war must not replace dialogue. The shortest path to peace is constructive dialogue. It is necessary to remain vigilant against Israel’s attempts to disrupt the negotiation process. As for the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one side of the strait belongs to Iran and the other to Oman. The access of Gulf countries to the strait and trade must remain free. We see increasing attention to alternative routes for the delivery of energy resources. With our ‘Development Road’ initiative, we are ready to take part in this process,” the Turkish President said.
