Speakers of Georgian and Armenian parliaments discuss regional stability

Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili met with his Armenian counterpart Alen Simonyan in Istanbul within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, the Georgian Speaker said in a post on X, APA’s local bureau reports.

The post reads: “Positive and engaging meeting with Alen Simonyan, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Strategic partnership between Georgia and Armenia is successfully developing across all areas. We discussed fruitful cooperation on the parliamentary level and talked about regional developments. We expressed our commitment to cooperate closely to ensure lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.”

The Georgian Speaker also held a meeting with the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmus. The sides discussed ongoing processes in the region and the world, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability.
