Moldova’s integration into Romania could allow Chisinau to join the European Union more quickly, said Moldova’s President Maia Sandu in an interview with Le Monde.
“This would allow us to join the EU faster and help us,” said Maia Sandu, who holds Romanian citizenship.
She emphasized that such a decision must be accepted by the majority of citizens.
The Moldovan president also spoke about alternative paths to EU membership. Maia Sandu did not rule out the possibility of Moldova joining the bloc without the unrecognized “Transnistrian Republic.”
“This is a possible solution,” the Moldovan president noted.
