The Polish Armed Forces claim that a Russian Su-24 aircraft has entered the republic's airspace. The corresponding statement was published on the page of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces in H, APA reports.
According to the Polish side, the incident occurred on February 11 at 14:09 local time (16:09 Moscow time) in the eastern part of the Gulf of Gdansk over the country's territorial waters. It is claimed that the Su-24MR entered Polish airspace "to a maximum depth of 6.5 km" and remained there for "1 minute 12 seconds."
According to the command's statement, the Polish specialized duty services "were in contact with the Russian side," which "reported that the cause [of the incident] was a failure of the Su-24MR aircraft's navigation system."
The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly states that flights of Russian military aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
