Number of Azerbaijani citizens obtaining driving licenses in Georgia increases

Last year, 27 Azerbaijani citizens received driver's licenses in Georgia, APA's local bureau reports.

This was stated in the 2025 report of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Compared to the previous year, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who received the right to drive a car in the neighboring country increased by 7 people.

Compared to the previous year, the number of Azerbaijani citizens who gained the right to drive in the neighboring country increased by seven.

In 2025, among Azerbaijani citizens aged 16 to 49 who obtained a driving license in Georgia, 14 were men, and 13 were women.

During the reporting year, nearly 4,500 people in total obtained a driving license in Georgia, with more than half of them being Georgian citizens.

In Georgia, it is possible to obtain a driving license from the age of 16. At this age, a person can gain the right to operate mopeds, quadricycles and tricycles. A driving license for motorcycles and passenger cars, however, is issued starting from the age of 17.

Since the end of May 2025, foreign nationals have been able to obtain a driving license in Georgia only on the basis of a residence permit or a certificate confirming they have stayed in the country for more than 185 days.
