Baku-APA. British Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to use his trip to India next week to promote the British-made Eurofighter jets, despite New Delhi having already opted for rival French-made Rafale fighter planes, APA reports.

Cameron will try to persuade the Indian government to buy over 100 Eurofighter jets after French President Francois Hollande failed to finalize a deal to sell 126 Dassault Rafale fighters to the Asian country.

A government source said the British premier was hopeful the £9 billion French deal could fall through because it has not yet been signed.

"We respect the fact that the Indians have chosen their preferred bidder and are currently negotiating with the French. Of course, we will continue to promote Eurofighter as a great fast jet not just in India but around the world," a Downing Street official said.

Cameron will start his second official visit to India on Monday, but his trip could be overshadowed by a row over a separate £483 million deal.

India said on Friday it wanted to cancel the deal for twelve helicopters made by AgustaWestland, the Anglo-Italian subsidiary of Italy's Finmeccanica, over bribery claims.
