Baku-APA. Three British men were found guilty of terrorism charges in London on Thursday, APA reports.

Irfan Naseer, 31, Irfan Khalid, 27, and Ashik Ali, 27, from Birmingham were said to be planning to become suicide bombers and had received training from al-Qaeda contacts in Pakistan.

After a long period work of surveillance and investigation by the British police and intelligence agency, the trio were arrested in 2011 amid fears their plans were accelerating.

The three men, together with other six men aged in their 20s, were found guilty in the plot at Woolwich Crown Court.

Jurors were told they planned to set off up to eight bombs in rucksacks and possibly detonate bombs on timers, according to local media.

Detectives believe it was the most significant terror plot to be uncovered since the 2006 conspiracy to blow up transatlantic airliners using bombs disguised as soft drinks.
