Baku-APA.  The international observer mission of OSCE on Monday said no serious irregularities were noted during the election for Montenegro's president on Sunday in which both candidates have claimed victory, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"The presidential elections were professionally and efficiently organized," stated a report prepared by the OSCE international observer mission in Montenegro.

As for anticipated election results, OSCE officials refrained from offering any hint of the final results, reported Radio Television Montenegro (RTCG).

"Our task is not to give legitimacy to the electoral process but to observe and report on it," stated OSCE mission head Boris Frlec, adding that they has not received any complaints to date.

Meanwhile, the Montenegrin State Electoral Commission has extended its deadline for the announcement of the official preliminary results, although one is expected on Monday.

Both candidates for the Montenegrin presidency declared themselves winner in Sunday's poll.

According to incumbent President Filip Vujanovic, unofficial results indicated he got 51.3 percent of votes, while 48.7 percent went to his challenger Miodrag Lekic.

On the basis of this level of support, Vujanovic declared himself the winner and was congratulated by Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic for the victory.

However, Lekic claimed he won 50.5 percent of votes.

"On the basis of 97 percent of the votes I can announce that the citizens of Montenegro have given me their support as president of Montenegro," stated Lekic.
