Baku-APA. Hungarian President Janos Ader on Tuesday said in Budapest that Hungary unconditionally supports Bulgaria's efforts to join the passport-free Schengen zone, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Speaking at a joint news conference with his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Plevneliev, Ader said that while four or five countries opposed Bulgaria's Schengen accession, he had always expressed his support for Bulgaria.
Plevneliev, for his part, also attempted to cast away concerns over Bulgaria's Schengen accession.
"There is no reason for fear," Plevneliev said, adding that Bulgaria would take measures to prevent mass migration if need be.
The two presidents also discussed energy issues during their talks, including their countries' commitment to constructing the South Stream and Nabucco gas pipelines.
Plevneliev is paying a two-day official visit to Hungary.
