NATO allies are working to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Secretary General Mark Rutte said during his visit to Norway, APA reports.
“I have been in contact with many allies. Of course, we all agree that this strait must be reopened. What I know is that allies are working together, discussing how we can do this and the best way to achieve it,” Rutte noted.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump has called on NATO allies to send warships to escort tanker convoys through the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway vital for global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
It should also be recalled that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz amid its war with the United States and Israel.
