After a telephone conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, French President Emmanuel Macron said that only Ukraine can negotiate a long-term peace and promised to support Kyiv in this, APA reports citing TASS.
"Just spoke with Volodymyr Zelenskyy," Macron wrote in X. He noted that if US President Donald Trump could reach an agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to end the Ukrainian conflict, it would be "great news." "But only the Ukrainians can negotiate a lasting and durable peace. We will help them," Macron added.
"We Europeans will have to strengthen our collective security and become more independent. France will play its role in accelerating this process. Let's make Europe stronger and more sovereign now," the French leader said.
