French President Emmanuel Macron held talks last night with U.S. President Donald Trump on the situation in the Middle East, LBC International reports.
Macron praised ongoing efforts led by Trump to quickly reach an agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a unique opportunity to build a new security framework involving all relevant parties to achieve lasting stability in the region.
He said France is fully ready to support these efforts and take part in their implementation, referring to an international mission established with the United Kingdom and other partners, which would be prepared to deploy once a deal is reached to help secure maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
Macron also said France is ready to contribute expertise and capabilities to broader negotiations that should begin, particularly on the nuclear aspects of the agreement.
He further praised Trump’s commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing the importance of a strong ceasefire and reaffirming France’s collective support for Lebanese authorities.
