Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced on Wednesday that it will cancel another 2,000 flights departing from Frankfurt and Munich and scheduled until the end of August. The decision comes after the airline already canceled more than 3,000 flights over the summer, APA reports citing Bloomberg.
A spokesperson for Lufthansa said the cancellations will mostly impact traffic peaks in the morning and in the evening and short-distance flights and connections "within Germany or nearby countries, for which there are good alternatives." The spokesperson added that cancellations are mainly caused by staff shortages, including absences related to COVID-19.
Lufthansa's shares dropped 2.35% after the announcement.
