President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a press conference, APA reports citing ukrinform.

"Strong measures against the Russian side — I understand that we can count on them. I don’t know the details yet, but we are talking about sanctions and strengthening Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that all key topics were discussed during the negotiations in Jeddah.

"I believe they were discussed in detail, but it's still too early to talk about them. In general, the American side wanted Ukraine to demonstrate readiness for swift steps toward ending the war. If Ukraine showed this willingness, the U.S. pledged to restore support — and they did. That’s why I see this as a positive outcome," Zelenskyy said.

The President emphasized that the discussion was highly constructive.

"After that, our European partners, who also supported our serious steps toward ending the war, showed their backing. They said the ball is now in Russia’s court — and that is a fact. So I believe that sanctions or other measures to pressure Russia will depend on the U.S. and their dialogue with the Russian side. If I understand correctly, these steps will mean ‘peace through strength,’" Zelenskyy added.

In his view, "if the Russians show they are willing to accept the U.S. proposal — just as we have, no more and no less — then there will be corresponding decisions. But if they are not ready, we strongly hope the U.S. will follow through on what it has promised."

As previously reported, a meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday. The parties released a joint statement following the talks.
