President Emmanuel Macron branded his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro's denigrating comment "extremely disrespectful" to France's first lady Brigitte, APA reports citing Sputnik.
"It's sad, and it's sad first of all for him and Brazilians. Brazilian women are probably feeling ashamed of their president," Macron said at the G7 press conference when he was asked about his opinion of Bolsonaro's controversial Facebook comment on the meme featuring the two presidents and their better halves.
However, Macron did not stop at this, and hinted that Bolsonaro might not be suitable for the top post: "Since I have a lot of esteem and respect for the people of Brazil, I hope they will very soon have a president who is up to the job," the French president stated.
