Finnish Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen said on Friday that it is "highly likely" that Finland will join NATO and that "a huge majority" of Finnish citizens are in favor of membership, APA reports citing Teletrader.
However, she insisted that no decision has been taken yet as the parliament still needs to discuss the matter.
"The brutal war in Ukraine is a wake-up call to us all, not only to us Finns, it has to do with the whole security order in Europe, ever everybody needs to respond to this," Tuppurainen told Sky News. She added that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a "ruthless dictator" whose goal is to "build back the interest spheres of former Soviet Russia, and we cannot allow that to happen."
