The foreign ministers of the European Union have agreed on a new package of sanctions against Israelis and organizations accused of supporting illegal settlement activities in the West Bank, said EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, APA reports.
At the same time, the EU foreign ministers approved new sanctions against Hamas leaders.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar sharply criticized the EU’s decision to impose sanctions on Israeli citizens and organizations.
The minister accused the EU of drawing comparisons between Israeli citizens and Hamas militants.
“Equally outrageous is the unacceptable comparison the European Union has chosen to make between Israeli citizens and Hamas militants,” Sa’ar continues. “This is a completely distorted moral equivalence.”
