The European Union is working to end the war in the Middle East, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, told journalists, APA reports.

According to the EU official, they are in contact with Gulf countries, as well as Egypt and Jordan, and are working toward ending the war.

Kallas noted that EU countries do not want to send forces to the Strait of Hormuz. She said that EU countries were not consulted when the war began and do not know the objectives of the conflict.

Kallas added that force can only be used in two cases — for self-defense or with a UN Security Council resolution: “Since neither of these conditions is met, EU countries have no intention of joining this war.”

The EU official also stated that the war in the Middle East is beneficial to Russia, emphasizing that ending it is “equally important” for Ukraine.

She also stressed that power in Iran can only be changed by its people.
