Türkiye wants to relaunch the negotiations for their adhesion [EU accession]. They want to put the European agenda high in their political approach to us, said Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy today in a press conference in Brussels before the start of the Council of Ministers of the EU on Foreign Affairs, APA reports.
“The Ministers will discuss how to answer to the request of Türkiye”, he stated.
“You know, the Ukrainian candidacy to the European Union has created a new dynamic in our neighborhood. If Ukraine is a candidate, it will accelerate the process in the whole Balkans and then, certainly, Türkiye wants also to be a part of this game,” Borrell said.
High Representative stated that EU will look at the modernization of Customs Union and also to the issue of visa liberalization with Türkiye.
