The rally will be held in Independence Square in the center of Kyiv. The participants will gather in the square which became famous during orange revolution and will demand dissolution of the Parliament (Supreme Rada).
Youth organizations of these political alliances today held a picket outside president’s office with the same demand.
Head of President’s secretariat, leader of Our Ukraine party Victor Baloga said he is ready to prepare the text of the decree about dissolution of the parliament.
Baloga said that if the president, being the guarantor of Constitution, makes decision on dissolution of the parliament the office will immediately start preparing corresponding decree.
He said that thousands of people appealed to the president on dissolution of the parliament. Baloga said Victor Yushchenko is investigating the ways of legal solution to the political crisis in the country.
Yuliya Timoshenko’s close surrounding says that the president may decree on dissolution of the parliament by the end of this week. Government’s wing voice threats against opposition and supporters of the president. Vasilio Kiselyov, one of the leaders of the Regions Party chaired by Viktor Yanukovich noted that if Supreme Rada is dissolved, parliament will pass decision on extraordinary presidential elections. He noted that this kind of executive order can be signed in case of legal motives and appropriate decision of constitutional court.
“No-one will fulfill illegal order, parliament will continue to operate. In this case my proposal on simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections can be supported,” he said.
President’s representative to Supreme RadaRoman Zvarich noted that Kiselyov’s statement has no legal grounds.
“Kiselyov’s statement is nothing but raving. If president’s decrees are not executed, I do not want to think of the situation in the country. Due to the Article 106 of the Constitution the execution of all decrees of the president in the frame of his competences is obligatory. On the other hand, the Supreme Rada does not have any right to fix extraordinary presidential elections,” he said.
The current confrontation in Ukraine is caused by the attempt of the government coalition to create majority in the parliament. The government started negotiations with the opposition parliamentarians. Being the result of this, 11 parliamentarians resigned from the factions. The opposition notes that they have taken this step in return of big sum of money.
