European Union prolongs sanctions against Belarus

European Union made a decision on prolonging the term of imposing of sanctions against Belarus for a year, APA reports. Reviewing the sanctions against Uzbekistan has been postponed until May.
Alexander Lukashenko and about 30 members of Belarus government are not allowed visiting EU countries and their bank accounts have been frozen. Western states accuse Belarus government of violating human rights and pursuing opposition and do not recognize the results of the latest presidential elections.
Uzbekistan has been applied sanctions with regard to the bloody events in Endijan on May 13-14 in 2005. Selling arms and military equipment to this country has been banned and 12 governmental representatives are not allowed to the EU states. /APA/
