EU official says gas supply diversification not to affect ties with Russia

Baku-APA. The EU’s decision to diversify its sources of gas would not affect the EU-Russia strategic partnership, an EU official said here Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"Our determination to diversify routes and supply sources of gas will not impact our commitment to expand the strategic partnership with Russia," Aurelia Bouchez, head of the EU delegation to Kazakhstan, said at a conference.
"EU consumers are suffering from very high gas prices. Consequently, any doubt among consumers about politicization of the gas market could undermine gas reliability and urge the government and communities to shift to other energy sources," she said.
Bouchez said the more diversified the market was, the more stable and predictable it would become.
