â€œI would to see Russia and NATO as the partners in the field of missile defense. Our cooperation strengths our current strategic stability and increases the confidence to achieve common goals. Cooperation in the field of missile defense demands political basis. Fortunately, we are not starting from point zero and our cooperation in the field of missile defense is a good basis.â€

Vershbow said that one of the NATO proposals is to establish the center of missile defense: â€œRussian and NATO servicemen will work together in these centers.â€

The â€œMissile Defense Factor in Forming a New Security Spaceâ€ conference has been organized by the Russian Defense Ministry. More than 200 military specialists and experts are taking part from over 50 nations including 28 NATO nations. As well as NATO and Russia, representatives of China, South Korea, Japan, the CIS nations and the OSCE are taking part in the conference.
