Jagland calls Ukrainian government to facilitate investigation of reports on Yuliya Tymoshenko’s beating

Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli – APA. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland has held a briefing today within PACE Session in Strasbourg on the state of Ukrainian jailed former Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko. APA’s European bureau reports that the Secretary General expressed concern over use of violence against Tymoshenko and called the Ukrainian officials to allow foreign diplomats to investigate this incident and visit Mrs. Tymoshenko. The Secretary General said he was closely watching this issue and underlined the importance of clear investigation in this sphere. Besides, Jagland said that the European Court on Human Rights controlled this issue and the European Union would declare its position on this case.
