One confrimed dead in Norway factory blast

Baku-APA. Norwegian police confirmed that one person was killed on in a gas explosion on Monday afternoon at a factory near Fredrikstad, south Norway, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Three others were injured and five were reportedly missing as a result of the major blast which happened at 16:18 local time (1418 GMT), said the police.

"There has been a major gas explosion at the Mills factory on the east side of Fredrikstad," Erik Nygaard, a police officer, was quoted as saying.

Witnesses said that glass panels were blown out from the windows of nearby buildings and that there was lots of broken glass.

Police and rescuers were working on the site and two air ambulances were dispatched from Lorenskog and a rescue helicopter from Oslo.

Injured people were carried on stretchers.

It was not immediately known how many people were in the factory building the explosion happened.

The police said they did not know what had caused the incident.
