Baku-APA. German authorities arrested a German Islamist who is allegedly a member of an al-Qaeda cell, the federal prosecutors’ office said Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Halli S., whose full name was not released due to German privacy laws, is accused of being a member of an al-Qaeda group named the Dusseldorf Cell. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested in the western city of Bochum.

Prosecutors said the group was involved in a terrorist bombing plot with targets in Germany. The cell’s alleged chief Abdeladim El-K and two others were arrested in April.

Halli S. is accused of providing financial and logistical support for the group and attempting to continue their plot after other members’arrest, prosecutors’ spokesman Marcus Koehler said.

"The accused is strongly suspected to have followed up on the attack plans despite the arrest of the other members of the so-called Duesseldorf Cell," Koehler said.

Police also conducted a series of other raids and arrested another suspect who was allegedly involved in Halil S.’s criminal activities to make money, but authorities said the suspect was not aware of Halil S.’s terrorist intent.
