After finishing a hearing in the Italian House of Deputies, Terzi told local media that he would summon Iran’s ambassador to Italy "as soon as possible" to ask for assurance for the future security of its diplomatic mission in the country.

Italy would have discussion with its European partners to identify the line to follow, and it would think over the results of the presence of Italian embassy and diplomats in Iran, said Terzi, adding that it is inconceivable that such incident happened as "Iran has showed its ability of controlling the demonstrations in recent years."

Earlier report said a group of Iranian protesters on Tuesday entered the British embassy buildings in Tehran. They tore down the British flag and looted Queen Elizabeth II portrait.

Later on Tuesday Italian Foreign Ministry issued a statement to condemn the violence against British embassy. "It is totally unacceptable what is happening to the compound of the British embassy in Teheran," said the statement.

"It is a very serious episode which Italy strongly condemns and for which Italy expresses its full solidarity to the British government," added the statement.
