Baku-APA. The European Commission has issued two warnings to Slovenia to demand the country fully implement new regulations over telecommunications and ecodesign, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Slovenia and 15 other EU member states received the Commission’s warning due to their failure to fully transpose the telecoms rules, the STA said.

To ensure more competition on the telecom market and better services for customers, the European Commission worked out news rules for telecom market in EU countries early this year.

Under the new regualations, which took effect on May 25, users should, among others, be able to switch operators in one day without losing their existing number and enjoy better protection of their online personal data.

In addition to the warning over telecoms, Slovenia was also warned due to its failure to transpose the Ecodesign Directive into its national legislation, the STA said.

The EU-sponsored Ecodesign Directive, which was made in 2009, aims at reducing the environmental impact of products, including the energy consumption throughout their entire life cycle.

If Slovenia continues failing to fully implement the EU’s new rules, the European Commission may refer it to the Court of Justice, the report said.
