Baku-APA. The Slovak parliament on Thursday approved the proposal to hold early general election on March 10 next year, with a sweeping majority of 143 out of 150 votes, APA reports.

The general election was originally planned for 2014 under a constitutional law.

The deal on the early election was reached at Wednesday’s talks between three governing parties backing up expansion of the euro rescue fund, and the main opposition Smer party.

Shortly after the vote on the election, the parliament also ratified the expansion of euro rescue plan with the support of the Smer party, after the bill was rejected in the first round of vote on Tuesday due to the strong opposition from the SaS party, one of the four governing parties.

The Smer party has insisted that its backing of the European Financial Stability Fund (EFSF) be conditional on initiating an early election.
