German arrested in Greek terror sweep

Baku-APA. Police in Athens have said that four men and a German women caught in a anti-terror raid in the Greek capital were preparing an attack this weekend against an as yet unknown target, APA reports quoting dw-world.de website
Greek police in Athens said suspects arrested in an anti-terror raid in Athens last week were planning attacks over the weekend.
Raids against the leftist Conspiracy Nuclei of Fire netted a computer which contained a statement claiming responsibility for an unspecified action scheduled to take place ahead of a trial on Monday of alleged members of the violent anarchist group.
Police arrested five people, including a German woman, on Thursday and Friday, charging them with participating in a terrorist group, committing terrorist acts and possessing weapons.
"These attacks would have been staged in solidarity with the group’s members going on trial on January 17," said police in a press release.
Police said that guns and ammunition were seized in the raid.
The four male suspects, in their early 20s, had been sought for alleged involvement in an arson attack in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki last October and are now also being questioned about the items retrieved in the latest raid.
The German woman arrested in connection with the case, 27-year-old Marie Fee Meyer, is the daughter of Barbara Meyer, a former member of the leftist German terrorist group, the Red Army Faction.
The Red Army Faction, also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang, was active in Germany from 1970 to 1998. They carried out dozens of bomb and arson attacks and were responsible for over 30 deaths.
Thirteen people, suspected of belonging to the Greek anarchist group, go on trial in Athens on Monday, charged with scores of arson and bomb attacks against government buildings in Greece as well as the homes and offices of Greek politicians.
