France records faster increasing import prices in December: Insee

Baku-APA. Imported commodities, including energy, food and else into France, all recorded faster increase in prices in December, with oil price leading the uptrend on soaring demand, French national statistics bureau Insee said on Tuesday, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

In December 2010, France imported oil from the North Sea (Brent) with prices in dollars grew by 7.1 percent, faster than 3.1 percent growth rate in November, due to boosted demand on fierce winter striking the northern hemisphere, according to Insee figures.

Euro’s depreciation against dollar sharpened the rising prices since it made the increase in oil prices in euro stood at 10.5 percent during December, Insee added.

French national office of energy and climate (DGEC) posted on Tuesday that oil prices in detail reached a new high in the first week of January 2011 with diesel price at 1.26 euro (1.63 U.S. dollar) per liter, the new record high since early 2008 October.

In addition, the prices of industrial raw materials in foreign currencies have again increased by 2.9 percent, compared with 1.7 percent increase in November. It was mainly boosted by prices of mineral raw materials, which rose by 2.7 percent after a pause in last month, offsetting slowing-down of agro-industrial raw materials that moderated to 3.6 percent increase from 6.5 percent in November.

The prices of raw food also registered an accelerated-increase of 5.2 percent, faster than 3.6 percent growth in November, with sugar, cereals, tea and cocoa leading the remarkable import inflation.
