Baku-APA. The Supreme Court of Poland on Tuesday officially confirmed the validity of the second round of presidential elections held on July 4, paving the way for the swearing-in of President-elect Bronislaw Komorowski, APA reports quoting news.xinhuanet.com website.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 6, as decided at a joint meeting of both chambers of Polish parliament.

Ruling Civic Platform’s candidate Komorowski won the presidential elections run-off by gaining 53.01 percent of the votes. His rival, Law and Justice leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski, was backed by 46.99 percent of the voters.

The Supreme Court received 378 election protests. Sixteen were recognized as justifiable, but the Court assessed that they did not have any influence on the result of the election.

Komorowski took over presidential duties after the death of President Lech Kaczynski in an air crash on April 10 near Smolensk, Russia.

The presidential elections were originally scheduled to be held in October. Komorowski decided to call for an early election in accordance with the election law.
