Turkey, Key to Solution of Many Problems of EU

Baku â€“ APA. Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis said Thursday Turkey was an important component for the European Union (EU). Speaking at the "Forum of European Young Leaders" in Istanbul’s Sofa Hotel, Bagis said that Turkey was the key to solution of many problems and difficulties of the EU, APA reports quoting turkishny.com web-page.
Turkey is a bridge between Asia and Europe. Istanbul offers an important prescription to Europe for the continent to solve problems arising from its history, Bagis emphasized.
Istanbul has always turned its face to Europe with its history, culture, civilization, past and future. Istanbul, as a single city, tells the EU how important Turkey is, Bagis said.
Muslims, Christians and Jews have lived as neighbors in Istanbul for centuries. One can see Turkey’s rich potential by looking at Istanbul, Bagis said.
Pointing out to Turkey’s recent economic growth, Bagis stressed that Turkey was an important country for the EU with its young and dynamic population.
Turkey is Europe’s sixth biggest and the world’s 16th biggest economy. Turkey is ranked in topTouching on the issue of energy, Bagis said that 70 percent of all energy resources needed by Europe were either to the north or south of Turkey.
Turkey is a natural partner in many energy projects, primarily in Nabucco, Bagis noted.
We see Turkey’s future under the umbrella of the EU. In its EU process, Turkey is getting more democratic, contemporary, modern, respectable and transparent every day, Bagis also said.
