Greek parliamentary elections lead to government changes

Baku – APA. The ruling New Democracy Party of Greece led by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis lost the parliamentary elections held on October 4, APA reports.

Karamanlis announced his resignation as a leader of New Democracy leader and said he wouldn’t nominate his candidacy to this post anymore.

Karamanlis phoned to socialist leader Georgios Papandreou and congratulated him on his party’s victory at the elections.

Karamanlis should end his Prime Minister office in 2011, but he called for early elections because of economic problems. He said solution of these problems would take four years.

Leader of Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) party of Greece and president of the Socialist International Georgios Papandreou has been a member of the Greek parliament since 1981. He took the different ministerial posts in the Greek government.
