Strasbourg. Fouad Gulubeyli – APA. PACE held hearing of report “Georgian –Russian war: a year later” made by Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs Luke van den Brande and Matias Iorsh, APA correspondent reports. After the hearing, first vice speaker of the Georgian parliament Mikhail Machavariani held briefing for the journalists. He said the territorial integrity was an important issue for Azerbaijan too. “The document emphasized the necessity of securing the territorial integrity and withdrawal of foreign armed forces from the occupied territories. The European parliamentarians once more urged Russia to fulfill commitments before the Council of Europe. They regret for non-fulfillment of commitments so far”.

Machavariani said it was unacceptable that Russia shrugged off the Council of Europe position because it could be bad example for other member countries. “Russia doesn’t fulfill resolutions 1633 and 1647 and shrugged off the Council’s values and basic principles as well. We hope that the resolution to be adopted at the autumn session will be new step forward and describe the fact of Russian invasion in Georgia”.

The discussions over the issue will be developed and the resolution is expected to be adopted at the end of plenary session.
