Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubayli – APA. “Though a year has passed since the war, Russia did not pay attention to any requirement of the Council of Europe. Georgia has fulfilled some of the commitments shown in the resolutions. Russia should fulfill its commitments,” former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov said at the press conference within the framework of PACE plenary session in Strasbourg, APA’s Europe bureau reports. He said Russia does not fulfill the commitments vis-à-vis the Council of Europe, and even lead the activity of the Council of Europe into deadlock. Russia has not ratified Protocol #14 that serves to facilitate the work of the European Court of Human Rights.

Touching on the future of Russia-Georgia relations, Kasyanov said if Moscow had obeyed the norms of the international law, the situation would not have been so.
“My position is that Georgia’s territorial integrity should be respected. Moreover, the international community should increase efforts in this region. The return of the refugees should be ensured. Georgia is an important neighbor for Russia. The relations between the two countries should be based on peaceful neighborhood,” he said.
