Flood kills at least 16 people in Istanbul – <font color=red>UPDATED – PHOTOSESSION </font>

Yearly norm of rain fell within 30 minutes. Floods hit Silivri, Basakshehir, Catalca, Eyyup, Esenler, Bahcelievler, Bagcilar, Buyukcekmece, Sultangazi, Gaziosmanpasha, Ikitelli, Halkali, Selimpasha, Arnavutkoy, Guneshli districts of Itsnabul washing over hundreds of houses, offices, roads and bridges. People climbed threes trying to survive. Flood waters rose in a level of three floors in some places. Those who couldn’t leave the houses asked local authorities to help them. The authorities began rescue operations sending boats and helicopters to the disaster area. 50 people in cars were rescued in Ikitelli, 670 –in Sivirli and 314- in Catalaca.
The waters washed up textile factory’s bus with 10 women workers on board. Seven women were killed and three were rescued. 16 bodies have been recovered so far. Death toll is expected to rise. The rains forecasted to fall next three days.
The floods killed nine people in Tekirdag district near Istanbul on September 8.
