Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli – APA. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) reviewed on Wednesday the action taken by Georgia and Russia on resolutions adopted by PACE. The Assembly adopted a resolution on the report about the “Humanitarian consequences of the Russian-Georgian war: fulfilment of Resolution 1648”, APA European bureau reports. The adoption of resolution on the report about fulfilment of Resolution 1647 was postponed until the autumn session of PACE in agreement with both parts. Chairman of the Russian delegation to PACE Konstantin Kosachev said humanitarian problems in the region still remained unresolved. “We have to use all opportunities we have to normalize the situation. We agree that the issue was raised in such form. The part of discussion on the humanitarian issues was normal and constructive. We are against the politicizing of the issue”. Member of the Georgian delegation to PACE Mikhail Machavariani said Resolutions 1633 and 1647 noted the non-fulfilment of Russian commitments. “The resolution discussed today describes all components, including occupation of Georgian territories, not allowance to the refugees to return home and destruction of Georgian settlements there. We agree with that and the Georgian delegation supported the resolution. The discussions showed univocally that 46 member countries of the Council of Europe support the Georgian position”.
